SPLASH! – Celebrating Water At Red Deer’s Fort Normandeau For Canada’s 150th!
By Sheldon Spackman
Red Deerians have the chance this weekend to celebrate water and it’s importance in our lives as part of Canada’s 150th Birthday. The Red Deer River Watershed Alliance and partners are presenting “Splash – Love Letters To Our Waters”, a Canada 150 event. It’s taking place from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm at Fort Normandeau just west of Red Deer on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22nd.
It’s a free, family-friendly event that will feature arts and crafts, story tellers, historical guides and numerous outdoor activities. There will also be a community BBQ provided by Nova Chemicals for visitors to enjoy.
Organizers say the event also celebrates Canada’s history and diversity through a water lens and with a focus on three themes: Love, Stories and Place.
Sponsoring partners of this event include the Waskasoo Environmental Education Society and the City of Red Deer.
