RDC Launching A New Diploma Program!
By Sheldon Spackman
RDC is launching a new two-year program that will allow students to earn a diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology.
College officials say they are already accepting applications for the program which will start to be offered in September of 2017. In a release, Dean, School of Trades and Technologies Joel Gingrich says “We’re very excited to offer this new program, which has been developed in collaboration with local industry stakeholders,” adding “It will provide students with a solid foundation in design, installation and maintenance of industrial control systems for future employment in this sought-after industry.”
Gingrinch explains that the Instrumentation Engineering Technology program offers theoretical and hands-on applications in a wide range of fundamental courses, as well as courses tailored to help students develop skillsets employers require. He says “The program will provide direct connections between students and future employers through professional practice and capstone courses, plus, graduates will be eligible for recognition towards Instrument Technician Journeyperson certification with Apprenticeship and Industry Training.”
Dr. Paulette Hanna, Vice President Academic says “We’re always committed to developing and delivering programs that are relevant and applicable to the needs of central Alberta and the Instrumentation Engineering Technology Diploma is a wonderful example of this.”
A special program launching event takes place at the RDC Bottling Forum on the Main Campus Tuesday evening November 22nd from 5:30-7:30pm. The public is welcome.
