We’ve come a long way since we first started 1965! As a community impact leader, United Way Central Alberta has transformed over the years, but we’ve remained committed to making lasting change in our region.
United Way Central Alberta began in 1965, awarding $6,000 in grants to mainly health and welfare organizations. 50 years later, we still fund a few of those agencies, and we now include a wide array of human service agencies that help local people improve their quality of life.
Today, we accomplish our mission to build strong, resilient communities by investing donor dollars in programs that impact our community, by partnering within the community to address underlying issues that impact residents, and by promoting the needs and interests of our more vulnerable citizens. We believe that the best opportunity for changing lives rests in three priority areas: Education, Income and Wellness. Collectively these efforts comprise our Community Impact Strategy.
