Free Fireside Chat with Sheldon Kennedy this Wednesday at RDC
FROM RDC Communications
RDC welcomes Sheldon Kennedy
On November 20, Red Deer College welcomes Sheldon Kennedy, co-founder of Respect Group Inc., as he shares his vision on creating a global culture of respect.
Wednesday, November 20
3 to 4 p.m.
Red Deer College Arts Centre Mainstage
In this fireside-chat style presentation, Kennedy will share his vision to eliminate bullying, abuse, harassment and discrimination. His over-arching goal to inspire a culture of respect is foundational to the work of the Respect Group, and his message is applicable to all work places, schools and sports organizations.
This free event is open to members of the public, as well as RDC students, faculty and staff.
Sheldon Kennedy first became known to Canadians when he earned gold at the World Junior Hockey Championships in 1988. He won the Memorial Cup in 1989 and he played for three NHL teams, but perhaps his biggest impact has been off the ice.
Sheldon has dedicated his life after hockey to education and the prevention of child abuse. He has been instrumental in bringing governments, public and private sector partners together to work collaboratively to influence policy change and improve the way child abuse is handled. He has influenced changes in Canadian law.
