Focusing On Mental Health And Wellness In Central Alberta
By Sheldon Spackman
It’s Mental Health Week across Canada and here in Central Alberta, thousands are taking the time to try and take better care of their mental health and wellness.
Among the events to mark the occasion this week, “Talking to Children about Mental Illness” held at the Canadian Mental Health Association’s new Learning Annex on Wednesday, May 3rd. Officials describe it as a Family Enrichment Program at Catholic Social Services, with the CMHA offering a series of free mini-educational workshops that focus on family mental health and wellness. The sessions are open to all parents with children ages 3 to 17.
Elsewhere, Canadian Mental Health Executive Director Trish McAllister-Hall, says they’re really trying to continue the conversation about “Getting Loud About Mental Health”. She adds they now want to get past just the awareness about Mental HealthĀ and onto what’s currently needed.
Fore more information about Mental Health and Wellness initiatives here in Central Alberta, visit the Canadian Mental Health Association’sĀ websiteĀ or that of Alberta Health Services.
