Beaumont RCMP – multi units collaborate to make drug and gun seizure
Beaumont, Alta. – A month long investigation by the Beaumont General Investigation Section (GIS) into a male believed to be trafficking illegal drugs has led the RCMP to make an arrest and lay charges following the execution of a search warrant.
On Feb. 4, Beaumont RCMP GIS and detachment members with the assistance of RCMP CAD CRU, and the RCMP Leduc Drug Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the city. One male was arrested in the residence without incident.
RCMP seized evidence of drug trafficking, psilocybin, cocaine and a firearm.
Johnathan Lang (39) of Beaumont has been charged with trafficking a controlled substance (x3), possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of stolen property. He has been released from custody and is next scheduled to appear in court in Leduc on Mar. 4, 2021.
The Beaumont GIS Unit has been functioning successfully in the detachment since September 2019. The specialized unit has members with the expertise to focus on property and drug related crimes and investigations. Since the inception of the unit, they have executed 11 search warrants, which led to over 140 criminal charges laid. The unit continues to target the crimes identified as a concern to the Beaumont community.
