Argentina’s Milei government withdraws negotiators from COP29 ‘climate change’ summit

“We have instructions from the ministry of foreign affairs to no longer participate.”

Argentinian delegates have been ordered to withdraw from the COP29 climate summit in Azerbaijan. Argentina’s libertarian president Javier Milei has previously called the mainstream climate change narrative a “socialist lie.”

According to media reports, the country’s representatives were ordered to leave the summit after just three days, even though the event is scheduled to last almost two weeks.

“It’s true,” Argentina’s undersecretary for the environment, Ana Lamas, told the Guardian. “We have instructions from the ministry of foreign affairs to no longer participate.”

However, Lamas said the decision only concerns COP29, when asked if her administration was planning to pull Argentina out of the Paris Agreement on climate.

Milei has previously called the “climate change” agenda a “socialist lie.” During his presidential campaign, he said that linking “climate change” to human activity was false. However, despite his brazen statements, Argentina’s climate diplomat Marcia Levaggi said in December 2023 that the country “will stay committed to the Paris Agreement” under President Milei.

“Milei is a liberal, he’s a libertarian, and he believes in market forces. And the market demands to include measures to address climate change,” Levaggi, who said she had the full support of Argentina’s new government, stated at the time. She also noted that Argentina would stay committed to reaching “net zero” emissions by 2050.

No official reason has been given for Argentina’s withdrawal from COP29. The decision comes amid expectations that the U.S. may withdraw from the Paris Agreement under the newly elected Republican administration, as Donald Trump had pulled the country out of the agreement during his first term as president.

TikTok CEO, Trump respond to SCOTUS ruling

TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew responded to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling Friday allowing a ban of the social media app to go into effect, saying he hopes to work with President-elect Donald Trump on a solution.

Trump posted on Truth Social that the Supreme Court’s Friday decision was expected. He noted that his own decision over the platform would be made soon and said, “Stay tuned!”

The CEO posted to the app on Friday following the ruling, thanking Trump for supporting the platform’s efforts to be accessible in the United States.

“I want to thank President Trump for his commitment to work with us to find a solution that keeps TikTok available in the United States,” he said. “This is a strong stand for the First Amendment and against arbitrary censorship.”

Chew continued: “We are grateful and pleased to have the support of a president who truly understands our platform, one who has used TikTok to express his own thoughts and perspectives, connecting with the world and generating more than 60 billion views of his content in the process.”

Before the ruling, Trump had said he had a productive conversation with Chairman Xi Jinping of China. The two discussed topics such as trade, fentanyl, TikTok, and other issues. Trump expressed optimism about resolving issues between China and the U.S. and emphasized working together to promote global peace and safety.

The outgoing Biden administration stated they would be leaving the ban up to the incoming administration.

“Given the sheer fact of timing, this Administration recognizes that actions to implement the law simply must fall to the next Administration, which takes office on Monday,” White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said in a statement.

‘This Is So Disgusting’: Joe Rogan Unloads On Gavin Newsom For ‘Creepy’ Behavior In Front Of Wildfire Wreckage

Podcast host Joe Rogan slammed Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday and condemned remarks that Newsom made amidst the still active and devastating wildfires.

Those fires erupted in the coastal town of Pacific Palisades in Los Angeles County and subsequently spread to Altadena near Eaton Canyon. “The Joe Rogan Experience” host criticized what he said was Newsom’s inappropriate demeanor and how he timed his comments, especially as affected families grappled with the total loss of their homes and personal memories.

“The governor gave this creepy speech where he was talking about speculators coming in. And talking about what to do with the land of all these homes that have been burnt down. It’s still only 6% contained. He did this little dance like I’ve been talking with these, you know, with the governor of Hawaii about what to do. We got some ideas,” Rogan said.

Rogan also said that there are broader issues of mismanagement in California’s approach to wildfire prevention and response. He criticized the state for not taking preventative measures like brush clearing and reservoir management.

“The fire insurance pulled out of California like, I think, like 69% of fire insurance pulled out of California because they’re, like, this is too crazy. Like you guys aren’t doing jack to manage this. You’re not clearing the brush. The amount of money they could have saved by just clearing brush. By filling the reservoir, that 11-million-gallon reservoir was completely empty during the time of full fire season. Like, why didn’t you fix that?” Rogan asked.

As Los Angeles County battles wildfires, Newsom faces intense online criticism for his odd shuffle during a local television interview. On Monday, the governor appeared on Los Angeles’ Fox affiliate, discussing the crisis amidst the scorched ruins.

Newsom, while addressing the likelihood of property speculators targeting fire-stricken neighborhoods, smiled broadly and performed a shoulder shimmy.

Rogan said Newsom behaved in a manner that was “disgusting”
