Return Hubs – Brussels Attempts Damage Control Over Migrant Crisis

The European Union is beginning to change its stance on its open border policy. Over 1.14 million sought asylum in the EU last year, a completely unsustainable population spike. European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has faced harsh criticism from member states throughout the bloc who are calling upon Brussels to address the situation. Von der Leyen has now expressed interest in creating “return hubs” to house and deport migrants whose applications are denied.

I reported that Italy saw a 64% reduction in illegal migration under President Giorgia Meloni, who promised to curb immigration once elected. Instead of building shelters to house migrants with taxpayer funds, Meloni sought to build detention centers. Centri di Permanenza per il Rimpatrio (CPRs) or Repatriation Centers were extremely controversial but effective. Thousands of migrants were detained and deported if their application for asylum was denied. Word traveled that conditions in these centers were less desirable, making Italy less desirable for would-be intruders.

Leyen Ursula von der

Ursula von der Leyen supported Meloni once she realized migrants were spilling into the rest of the bloc from Italy and has pointed to Meloni’s “out of the box thinking” to stop the inflow of newcomers. Specifically, the European Commission president stated that the Italy-Albania protocol proved effective whereby both nations signed a treaty that permitted Italy to send asylum seekers found in international waters back to Albania where they are then held in detention centers. “We should also continue to explore possible ways forward as regards the idea of developing return hubs outside the EU, especially in view of a new legislative proposal on return,” von der Leyen writes. “With the start of operations of the Italy-Albania protocol, we will also be able to draw lessons from this experience in practice.”

Now, 17 members of the EU sent a document to Brussels earlier in the month demanding border reform. “People without the right to stay must be held accountable. A new legal basis must clearly define their obligations and duties,” the members said. “Non-cooperation must have consequences and be sanctioned.” Suddenly, leaders of European nations realized that they were beneath Brussels in terms of power and had lost the ability to secure their own borders.

The 17 member nations are demanding that Brussels implements rules to detain and deport migrants who could be a threat to national security. Furthermore, they want to non-EU nations to accept their own citizens back once they are deported. As with everything, money rules all and these nations are willing to use trade and monetary gifts or aid as leverage, as Italy did with numerous African nations under the Mattei Plan.

Countless EU nations are attempting to control their borders, and in doing so, Brussels is relinquishing its power. Poland even attempted to announce a temporary suspension of asylum seekers the same week that Ursula voiced concern over the migrant crisis. The forced cohesion of the European Union is coming undone.

Sweeping Deportations to Begin in Chicago Day After Inauguration

From the Daily Caller News Foundation

By Jason Hopkins

President-elect Donald Trump is expected to launch his promised large-scale deportation operation the day after he is sworn into office, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal.

The incoming Trump administration will immediately begin mass deportation efforts in major sanctuary cities across the United States, with Chicago predicted to be first on the docket, according to The Wall Street Journal. The raid in Chicago is anticipated to begin Tuesday morning and last the entire week, with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to deploy 100 to 200 agents to execute the operation.

Incoming border czar Tom Homan — who led ICE during the first Trump administration — previously told the Daily Caller News Foundation that the White House will focus on the “worst first,” prioritizing illegal migrants who have criminal histories and orders of removal. However, Homan also made clear that any illegal migrant in the U.S is fair game.

“Like the first Trump administration, we’re going to prioritize public safety threats, national security threats and fugitives,” Homan stated to the DCNF, adding that gang members and other criminals would be their main focus. “Those that had due process at great taxpayer expense, were given orders of deportation, never left and became a fugitive – them too, they’re a priority.”

“The ones who pose the biggest threat to the country – they come first. The worst first,” Homan went on. “But let’s be clear, if you’re in the country illegally, you’re not off the table.”

The Chicago City Council recently slapped down an attempt by two moderate aldermen to scale back the sanctuary city laws currently in place.

Aldermen Raymond Lopez and Silvana Tabares, both Democrats, proposed amending Chicago’s Welcoming City ordinance to allow for ICE cooperation when an illegal migrant has been arrested of certain criminal activities, arguing that such a policy would be a net benefit for the city’s immigrant community as it would allow deportation officers to better focus on criminals instead of making enforcement actions in the city at large. However, their proposal was quickly shot down by the council on Wednesday.

Other sanctuary cities in the U.S. have also expressed steep opposition to Trump’s enforcement agenda. Los Angeles passed its sanctuary law shortly after Trump emerged victorious in the presidential election, San Diego County doubled down on its existing law and Boston reaffirmed its sanctuary status in December.

Homan has said that city officials refusing to cooperate with ICE will not deter their agenda, and he added that those who knowingly harbor illegal migrants from law enforcement will be recommended for prosecution.

Along with large-scale deportation operations, Trump has also vowed to end birthright citizenship for those born on U.S. soil by illegal migrant parents, resume construction on the U.S.-Mexico border wall, bring back the Remain in Mexico program and implement other hawkish policies.

50,000 Students Missing: Trudeau’s Immigration Circus Hits New Low

Canada’s schools cash in while international students vanish—leaving Canadians with the bill and a broken system

Well, well, well—Canada’s immigration system strikes again, and this time it’s not just a sieve; it’s a black hole. According to a Globe and Mail article Nearly 50,000 international students—students who were supposed to be enriching Canada’s universities and colleges—are nowhere to be found. Poof! Gone. Maybe they’re working under the table, maybe they’ve crossed into the U.S., or maybe they’re just laughing at how easy it is to game Justin Trudeau’s broken system. But hey, who’s counting? Certainly not Trudeau.

This is what happens when you turn the immigration system into a glorified Ponzi scheme. Schools rake in the cash—because international students pay through the nose—but don’t bother checking whether these students ever show up to class. Why would they? There’s no downside for the institutions, no accountability, and Trudeau’s Liberals aren’t exactly known for cracking down on their woke immigration utopia.

Now, let’s talk numbers. almost 20,000 students from India alone didn’t show up—but don’t worry, the RCMP is “reaching out” to India. Reaching out? What does that mean, sending a polite email asking, “Hey, have you seen our students?” Meanwhile, half the students from Rwanda just ghosted. Half! But Trudeau wants us to believe this isn’t a policy failure—it’s just a little “compliance hiccup.” Sure, and my Labrador runs NASA.

And here comes Immigration Minister Marc Miller with his tough-guy act: schools might lose their ability to admit international students if they don’t submit compliance reports. Oh, bravo! That’ll show them! Never mind that this system has been a cash-grab free-for-all for years under Trudeau. Never mind that these so-called reforms are like slapping duct tape on a sinking ship.

Let’s be honest: Trudeaus Liberals doesn’t care about fixing this mess. Why would he? The whole point is to create chaos now so that when the Conservatives take power, they inherit this dumpster fire. Then, when Pierre Poilievre or whoever tries to clean it up, the Liberals will wail and gnash their teeth, screaming, “Look how mean and anti-immigrant the Conservatives are!” It’s a trap, and it’s classic Trudeau—leave the house in flames and then blame the firefighters when they show up.

Meanwhile, Canadians are left footing the bill. Skyrocketing rents, overcrowded hospitals, and universities that look more like visa factories than places of learning. Trudeau doesn’t care. This isn’t about improving Canada—it’s about looking good on the world stage and keeping the global elite happy.

So here’s the takeaway: Canada’s immigration system is a joke, and the punchline is Justin Trudeau. Schools profit, students disappear, and regular Canadians suffer. The Liberals don’t care about accountability; they care about keeping their woke agenda intact while setting traps for the next government. The result? A country that’s being gamed by everyone except the people it’s supposed to serve. Pathetic. But hey, it’s Trudeau’s Canada, so what did you expect?
