Notre Dame Making Noise To Fund Trauma Dog
Graduating students from Notre Dame High School are leading the way with their grad service project.
The 2017 project got underway February 27th and will continue until March 4th. During this time students and teachers participating in the event try to raise $40,000 for the RCMP Victim Services Unit. The funds will be used to purchase a trauma dog to assist RCMP members in emergency situations with additional proceeds going to mental health initiatives.
During school days teams involving eight students and their team teacher work together to complete challenges to earn points. Alongside the school challenges, student teams with their team parent will embark on a twenty hour scavenger hunt throughout the city. The objective of the hunt is to get all 2017 items on their list.
Notre Dame is encouraging all students, their families and anyone who has a connection to the school to join the Notre Dame tradition. For the first time this year, alumni students and retired staff are invited to take part in the cause while supporting the RCMP Victim Services Unit. The tradition is a way of giving back to the community and showing school pride at the same time.
RCMP members are showed their gratitude by inviting students, parents and teachers to an appreciation event on February 28th.
