Former Westerner CEO John Harms passes away suddenly at age 63
Former Westerner CEO John Harms passed away suddenly on Saturday. John was an active member of our community for several decades, a member of the downtown Rotary Club and a staunch supporter of STARS Air Ambulance. He amassed many friends during his time in our city. There will be a celebration of John’s life this Friday in Edmonton.
The following is John’s obituary:
It is with deep sadness that the family of John announces his sudden passing on January 5, 2019 at the age of 63. John was born November 17,1955, son to Lois and Dr. John Harms. He graduated from the U of A in Agriculture and a MBA. Johns career spanned many different fields, most notably with Edmonton Northlands and the Red Deer Westerner Park, where he spent close to 20 years.
He will be lovingly remember by his daughter Erin (Oliver) Foster; mother Lois; sisters Rhonda Meredith and Sandra Clark; dear friend and mother of his child, Carol Weir, nephews and godson Matthew (Nicole) Harms, Sean (Ilse) Harms, and Cameron Meredith; numerous relatives and friends.
John was predeceased by his father, Dr. John Harms. A Celebration of Johns life will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street, Edmonton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to STARS Shock Trauma Air Rescue.
