Red Deerians To Ring In The Holiday Season November 19th!
By Sheldon Spackman
Red Deer’s official start to the Christmas Season takes place on Saturday night. The annual Red Deer Lights The Night event takes place downtown next to City Hall, where there will be all sorts of activities the whole family can enjoy.
Residents and visitors alike can take a stroll through the colourful lights of City Hall Park when they get turned on at 5:15pm, visit the vendors in the winter market and cozy up in the warming tent while enjoying some free popcorn and hot chocolate. There will also be crafts and games for the kids and of course, a visit from Santa.
However, the highlight of the free event is the lighting of Red Deer’s biggest Christmas Tree at 6:15pm next to City Hall on the northeast corner.
Guests are reminded that pets are not permitted in City Hall Park or the event site. Parking is available at Sorenson Station at 4830 48th Street, P4 at 49th Avenue and 49th Street and P8 behind Gaetz Memorial United Church.
Red Deer Lights The Night is hosted by the Downtown Business Association, Red Deer Public Library and The City of Red Deer. It runs from 4:00-7:00pm.
