Red Deer Christmas Bureau Accepting Food Hamper Applications

By Sheldon Spackman
Applications to receive a food hamper from the Red Deer Christmas Bureau this year are now being accepted.
Officials say clients or potential clients are encouraged to visit the Toy Depot at #15 7428 49th avenue and submit their application. This entails bringing ID, including an Alberta Health Care Card for everyone in the family, one month’s bank statement,Ā proof of income for qualification and proof of residency.
If eligible, clients will be given a food hamper card, which they can redeem on December 20thĀ or 21stĀ from 10am – 5pm at the Toy Depot.Ā The hampers contain a great deal of food, making them very heavy.Ā It is recommended that clients have transportation from the Toy Depot.
Volunteers interested in helping distribute hampers are asked to call the office and you will be contacted with a shift time. Due to the content of the hampers, the Christmas Bureau does not take food donations.Ā Should you wish to help provide hampers, cash donations are greatly appreciated.
For more information please contact the Red Deer Christmas Bureau at 403-347-2210.
Food Hamper applications are being accepted Monday to Friday between 10:00am – 4:00pm until December 15th.
