WHAT I KNOW ABOUT THAT WOULD FILL A THIMBLE . . .
Someone in my youth used to say, “What I know about that would fill a thimble and leave room for a bag lunch.” The essence of that statement is applicable to much of my life. Maybe it’s because I don’t get out much, or maybe it’s because I don’t ask enough questions. This week I learned about tiny bites and bars.
My trips to Red Deer’s Farmers’ Market have been quite educational because I’ve started asking questions. I started at the Lil’ Orbits Mini-Donut food truck. I’d never had one–ever. Sixty-nine years without a mini-donut. Too soon old, too late smart! Owner/operator Shea Volk filled me in and then I tasted these couldn’t-be-fresher little miracles. Wow!
My second stop was at Sarah Jane’s Sensibles. I’m a New Age kind of guy so her display of homemade soaps caught my attention. The display is eye-catching! A fellow market-goer stopped at the booth/tent just before me and expressed the thought that the samples were so colourful and decorative she thought they might be candy. Well, I’ve had soap in my mouth before and it’s not a fond memory. But I bought the coffee-scented bar and am test driving it now.
