15th Annual Go Girl Celebrates Wellness for Grade 5 Girls

RDC’s Be Fit for Life Centre is once again encouraging young girls to keep moving. The 15th annual Go Girl event promotes health, confidence and physical activity to Grade 5 girls in the Red Deer Public School District and Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools.
“The whole premise of this event is really positive and it targets an important and impressionable age group of young girls,” explains Barb Marsh, Program Coordinator for RDC’s Be Fit For Life Centre.
The event will provide learning opportunities through a variety of interactive sessions, which will include nutrition, body confidence, tumbling, softball and even triathlon.
“Along with the value of these important health lessons, girls will have the opportunity to meet new friends throughout the day,” says Marsh. “Our goal is for the students to remember the positive lessons they learn at the event and carry them throughout their lives.”
With more than 600 girls expected, the event will be led by nearly 30 instructors who will guide the students through activities and provide them with fun and valuable healthy lifestyle lessons. Since Go Girl began 14 years ago, nearly 7,500 Grade 5 girls have participated in the event.
